Do you miss winter yet? Snowfall in Old Montreal

New York City slush
A glorious sun-filled morning. I’ve been hibernating during the storm: I didn’t even open my front door for over 24 hours. Pajama pants, hot cookies, spiced apple cider, and old movies. Tweets abound: cars, buses, trains, ambulances, firetrucks, and snowplows stuck in the snow. Traffic nightmare.
But now two days after the first snowflakes fell, it’s so beautiful outside. Let’s explore.
First stop, West Village. There’s snow in the subway?

Little paths remind me of the little trails that wild rabbits and voles make in the snow. Sidewalk scurry-ways.

Is there a car under there? Maybe he’s just digging for fun.

Brownstone stoops,

make for good slides.

Who needs traffic police, when you’ve got a snowman standing guard?

I dare say this gentleman won’t be cruising down the block with convertible roof down anytime soon. Pssst. FYI, you’re illegally parked.

Snowdrifts in SoHo

Snowy Central Park

Williamsburg, 48 hours after the storm. Not bad, no stuck and abandoned vehicles.

The early afternoon air held my breath in little clouds. I think we all knew what was coming, the first real snowflakes of the season had fallen around noon and the sky was looking more ominous by the minute. A white Christmas? No - a day too late, but close enough. Blizzard warnings had scrolled at the top my weather app on my phone since yesterday night, people were just now scrambling all over town to run their errands and stock up before the storm really hit.

Why yes, it is coooold. Stolling down SoHo, the mercury had plummeted and the wind had picked up. Bundling up was crucial.

Wipers up. In hindsight, probably futile.

And so it began.

There’s a snowstorm in MontrĂ©al, perhaps it’s time to dig out the boots again?
